Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in an inner-city school with a wide mix of students from different backgrounds, ethnicities, economic levels, as well as varying degrees of parental support. All of my students deserve the best education possible and I'm doing my very best to get them the tools we need.

So many of my students come into my class far behind their peers, both academically and socially.

For many, it is their first time in a classroom setting. These students come in not knowing their letters or their letter sounds, knowing how to count, and many times can't even recognize their own name.

Our school is labeled Title I, which means that most of our families are low-income/poverty level. I will have students who don't know exactly where their next meal is coming from or where they're going to sleep that night.

I really do think that I have the best students in the world. They always try their best and work hard to learn everything they need in order to be ready for first grade.

My Project

We use our classroom printer ALL THE TIME! I even brought it home during Thanksgiving break so I could print off new center games and activities. I have been printing off math games, reading games, and cards for my students to use during reading buddy time.

Printing our games and activities in color allows my students to see the differences in the bears on the sorting bear cards to copy the patterns, or what color the blocks so they can recreate the structure they are asked to build.

I also want to print off things to place around my room so my students can read and write the room during center time.

I am finding new things to print for centers and assessments all the time. Please help me get these so I can continue to make my centers and games amazing!
