Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see my students working in pairs, in small groups and there is definitely a buzz. You will see students working on Chromebooks, iPad minis, and even personal smartphones. My students are used to using many different modalities to demonstrate their understanding. More than half of the students in our school come from low-income homes.
My students are a group of seventh and eighth graders who are English-language learners and Spanish-language learners.
They have been learning in both languages since kindergarten in our school, which is a K-8 grade school model.
My Project
Students are often asked to bring school supplies at the beginning of the year. This year's list was small intentionally. I want to be able to provide all of my students with basic school supplies and classroom supplies that should last the entire year. We will use the materials ordered to the work in our science interactive notebooks and create foldables among other things. We have many STEM projects planned for this year. In a couple of months, we will be celebrating STEM week in the classroom.
Having these supplies ( color pencils, rulers, and labels) in our room early in the year and enough for all of my students will make the year easier for both the students and teacher.
A well-supplied classroom will allow my students to participate fully in our classroom activities.
