Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students are English language learners at different levels of language proficiency. They attend elementary school in a small agricultural community. They struggle with poverty and other border issues. For instance, 100% are in free food service programs. Another example is that some of them are living with relatives because of family, health, and social issues. In many instances, my students are under the care of grandparents or raising by older siblings since their parents work long hours in the fields.

Some of my newcomer students struggle to take risks in a new country and language, while others are becoming proficient.

A majority of them are eager to learn and take advantage of every opportunity being offered at school.

Despite the situation of some students being the first generation in the United States, they come to school and support one another with acquiring a new language at the same time that they work the academic requirements of fourth grade.

My Project

Color copies are a necessity during distance learning and also in our daily classroom activities. Learning must be appealing. Our students are getting use to colorful images from apps and websites, but when moving to work on paper they are frequently working on black and white worksheets.

My students learn much better when organizing, classifying, and identifying letters, words, topics, images, and tools with color coding.

Your donation will make learning more appealing by providing colorful worksheets and tools as my students transition from online to pencil and paper activities.
