My high school is in an ethnically diverse low-income suburban district. We have a graduation rate of 93%, 35% of our students attend a 4-year college after graduation, 81% of our students complete the FAFSA, and 70% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our graduation rate, attendance rate, 4-year university rate, and FAFSA rate are all the highest in our school district. Our students are high achievers and we are excited to provide them with this opportunity to celebrate.
V. High School will be hosting a College Signing Day to celebrate those seniors who will be attending a 4 year school in the fall. Students receive breakfast and certificates with the name of the college they will be attending. Students will get to hang out and celebrate with their friends, take pictures, and listen to music. This is our second year hosting this event and hope to continue to expand it. We will use the pictures from the event to help motivate our underclassmen to reach higher and achieve college readiness by the time they are a senior. The t-shirts we are requesting will be raffled away as a free prize for students. All students who will be attending a four-year college will be entered in the raffle. Our students are low income and many cannot afford this simple luxury. This way our students can REP the college they will be attending!
