Because of your generosity, our library now has 80 new, high‑interest manga titles—and our students couldn't be more excited.\r\nFrom the moment these books hit the shelves, students have been lining up to check them out. Many of our teens come from low‑socioeconomic backgrounds and had previously struggled to find reading material that truly captured their interest. Manga is the entry point we hoped it would be, and your donation made that possible.\r\nOne of my students, who told me earlier this school year that he \"doesn't like reading,\" now visits the library several times a week to tell me, often with great enthusiasm, about the latest plot twists in One Piece. He's discovering that he does enjoy reading; he just needed stories that spoke to him. This transformation is exactly what we envisioned when we wrote the proposal: validating student interests, giving reluctant readers a place to start, and creating a welcoming, inclusive reading community.\r\nWe are already seeing measurable results. During the first semester, our library circulated an average of 316 books per month. Since the new manga titles arrived, our monthly average has climbed to 378 checkouts—a 19.6% increase. That growth reflects more than numbers; it represents students who feel seen, motivated, and excited to read.\r\nYour support didn't just add books to our shelves. It opened doors for students who are eager to read, explore new worlds, and grow as learners. Thank you for believing in our students and helping us make reading accessible, joyful, and meaningful for everyone who walks through our library doors.","fullyFundedDate":1764628739289,"projectUrl":"project/manga-for-the-masses/9761482/","projectTitle":"Manga for the Masses","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8420818_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760494339596","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8420818"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54854","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2784,"numTeachers":107,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":73,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"26.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":49.1,"schoolId":54854,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Valley View High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Valley View High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/moreno-valley-unified-school-district/valley-view-high-school/54854"}
