Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

AVID students are constantly encouraged to think about their futures, set goals, and see themselves as college-bound scholars. One of the most powerful ways to support that mindset is to surround them with visual reminders of what they are working toward. This project will provide a collection of college pennants to display in our AVID classroom and nearby hallway, transforming our walls into a college-going space that inspires students every single day.

AVID classrooms across the country use pennants, posters, and college information as part of their core structure.

These visuals aren’t just decorations. They are tools that spark conversations about majors, campuses, financial aid, and career possibilities. I want my students look around the room and say, “I want to go there,” or, “My cousin goes there,” which leads to deeper discussions about goals and preparation. For many of my students, especially those who will be the first in their families to attend college, seeing these pennants helps make the idea of higher education feel real and attainable.

With your support, our classroom will become a space where students can envision themselves walking across a quad, living in a dorm, joining a campus club, or pursuing a field they care about. These pennants will serve as daily motivation reminders that college is not just a distant hope but a real possibility within their reach. By funding this project, you are helping cultivate confidence, ambition, and a future-focused mindset in every AVID student who enters the room.
