This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine spending countless hours working on a CAD project. Every line looks correct, the colors are bursting with life, and you can't wait to print and showcase your work. You click print. You run to the printer. You see a flashing light with a message that reads, "Out of toner/Change toner!"
We are a Title I school in Mississippi.
87% of our students are eligible for free/reduced lunch. 100% of our students are eligible for free breakfast. At least 40% of our students come from low-income families. With these facts in mind, most of our students do not have computers at home. Even less have a working printer at home. However, being able to print class work is essential to the classroom needs of our students.
My Project
I teach STEM Applications. My students are required to maintain a Course Portfolio. The Course Portfolio is a collection of student activities, accomplishments, and achievements. My students select and submit their best work in the Course Portfolio. My students will use the laser toner cartridges from this project to print the work that will be included their Course Portfolios.
Your generous donation will improve my classroom by allowing me to identify curriculum gaps, and promote discussions on: student learning, curriculum, and pedagogy.
Your generous donation will change my students' lives for the better by encouraging them to reflect on their learning which will allow them to understand what they have and have not learned. A hard copy of the Course Portfolio will also provide my students with documentation for job applications or applications to college.
