Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
'College Bound Jags', seniors at CHS in Long Beach, California, was coined to help build up the college culture on campus. The seniors here will be majority first-generation college students, some even the first in their families. Eighty percent of the students at CHS come from low-income households.
Despite the under-resourced circumstances, the seniors at CHS are ambitious, hard-working, caring, and highly motivated young adults excited to start their college journey.
They are headed to 4-year and 2-year institutions. Some of them will also be joining the workforce or military directly after high school.
My Project
Signing Day will be a celebratory event for seniors to applaud their hard work throughout high school and the extensive process of applying for college and financial aid. The donations requested on this page will be raffled to students heading to 4-year and 2-year institutions. The donations are applicable for the needs of students commuting to campus (lunch bags, headphones) or living on campus (printers, mini-fridge).
Signing Day is an opportunity to motivate, promote, and enhance the college culture at CHS.
Although the event is targeted for seniors, it gives underclassmen something to look forward during their senior year.
