My Students

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of dreams. Most of them have been together for years as our school includes an attached elementary school through which many students come from as they enter middle school. Our school is partnered with an amazing organization, College Access for All; this organization is part of the mayor’s “Equity and Excellence” agenda to ensure all NYC students succeed in their post-secondary paths. The program works to bring awareness of the college opportunities out there for students. Yes, our students have the opportunity to start thinking about the college options available to them now!

Through our school's College Access team, we are also partnered with CUNY's Black Male Initiative.

This is a university-wide student development initiative focused on increasing matriculation, retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students, particularly men of color. Our amazing school is mostly comprised of students of color-- Black and Latinx students. As they strive to do all they can to prepare for high school and beyond, we are striving to help make them aware of every opportunity they have available to them to reach their educational and career goals!

My Project

Hello! The amazing students from my school are seeking your help! Our students are heading to Howard University in Washington DC, and we need your help to ensure that they are able to experience every bit of college and historical culture this trip has to offer. While in DC, we'll partake of a tour of the historic Howard University, as well as check out some of the great monuments nearby, such as the MLK Jr. Memorial, the Vietnam Women's Memorial, and the World War II Memorial.

We will also head to the National Museum of African American History and Culture-- that's where you come in!

This project is to help fund the cost of our students attending the museum. The National Museum of African American History and Culture contains a collection of amazing works by great artists, great historical exhibits, and fun and exciting "artifacts" that help tell the story of the African American experience. This trip will inform and thrill our students, immersing them in an abundance of culture from decades-- even centuries back! With your help, the students will not only have the opportunity to see possible college options for their future, but they will also be able to experience history through the lens of the preserved works at the museum.
