Our VILS Lab STEAM class is in need of some engaging activities for the end of the year.
What's more exciting than dropping eggs from the second story of the school?
We hope to get some egg drop kits for students to go through the design thinking process. We also are requesting whiteboards for small group planning.
Students will also use our 3D printing pens in their design projects. Silicone mats will be helpful while building their structures. This will truly be a STEAM project that will ensure lots of engagement, collaboration, and fun. Students will engage in scientific principles such as gravity, force, and motion. They will use technology to research. They will engage in engineering through the design process and build their egg drop contraption. Students will be expected to make sure that their design is visually appealing and use the 3D printing pens and pipe cleaners. Math will also be apparent as students apply concepts such as measurement, geometry and calculations.
The egg drop project integrates all of the various aspects of STEAM education, encouraging students to think critically, problem solve creatively, and apply concepts from multiple disciplines in a hands-on practical challenge.
