Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a regional autistic support classroom. The students in my classroom benefit from having small group or one-on-one instruction. Our classroom has a low student to teacher ratio which provides the best learning environment for our kiddos. We are able to focus on academic goals along with behavior, communication, social and functional life skills.

The students in my classroom are eager to come to school each day.

In addition to day to day studies, we take community based field trips throughout the year. These experiences help build skills the students will use to be successful later in life.

My students also have a brew crew cafe. Each morning they take orders from the teachers and make and deliver their coffee. This gives them experience handling money, engaging with others in a professional environment and experience fulfilling job requirements. The students in my class love their job as brew crew cafe baristas!

My Project

This project is important to a daily routine in my classroom. My students run a coffee shop for the staff in our building. The Brew Crew allows for my students to use a variety of skills such as functional life, vocational, social and even hygiene. In order to run their business they need the inventory to fulfill orders.

I do believe that the time spent making and delivering coffee is one of the best parts of their day, which is amazing because they are learning so much while doing it!

My students take pride in their coffee shop and it is my desire to provide them with the resources they need to run a successful business. Please help us start the year off right and stock up on our Brew Crew supplies. Thank you so much!
