"As robotics and computers become increasingly prevalent in students’ lives, understanding programming concepts is becoming very important for students’ success." - Wonder Workshop.
The Dash & Dot robot system is the perfect way to integrate programming into the elementary curriculum.
In my technology and STEAM classes, K-3 students are encouraged to explore, brainstorm, create, problem solve, invent, create, and collaborate while working in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math - STEAM.
The students I work with are extremely curious about robots and coding. The Dash & Dot robots will help my students satisfy that curiosity.
My Project
Students in my classroom will use Dash & Dot to write code, navigate mazes, create music, build applications, problem solve, and collaborate with others. Students will use Blockly code and the coding materials from Wonder Workshop as they use and practice coding throughout their day.
As students work in small groups with the Dash & Dot Wonder Pack they will develop their collaboration and communication abilities.
Students will develop skills in coding as they design code to move Dot & Dash through mazes created by other students. Important problem solving skills will be strengthened each time the students use Dash and Dot. Students will be able to see their code come to life in real-world applications that engage them fully in the concepts they are learning about.
