This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school district is part of a rural community with over half the student population coming from low-income households.
My students are intellectually gifted 3rd-grade students.
Students come to my classroom through a daily one hour "pull-out program" for a total of 5 hours per week. My class size ranges from 6 to 9 students. I have a total of 40 students in 5 different class periods.
My students come to my classroom excited to explore the world of critical thinking skills, creativity, group dynamics, communication, research, effective and life skills, and self-directed learning.
My Project
My students love coding and exploring different areas of technology. I think Botley, The Coding Robot, will be a great tool to use with my students. I have requested 2 of the Botley bundles to use in my classes. Students will work in small groups to complete coding challenges.
The Botley Robots will help meet several of my state gifted standards by addressing areas such as, problem solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, and collaboration skills.
Botley has advanced features that will grow with students as they unlock new levels. Students will learn to code multiple step challenges using cause and effect logic building 21st century skills.
