My Students

I teach 50 six, seventh and eighth grade gifted and talented students. Most of these students are low socio-economic. They are a highly engaged, intelligent and eager group of young learners.

Our youth is the hope for the future and need to be able to be challenged so they can excel.

They are rapidly becoming experts at finding parallels between the past and present by exploring ancient civilizations. They exercise their intellect daily. They are thirsty for knowledge and are willing to do anything to reach their goals.

My Project

Our students are our future. Technology is our future. How can our students use technology for social good?

I will learn how to inspire my students to combine their love of technology with the ability to create change in their communities.

What a great discovery that would be!

Imagine the ways in which they could change their own lives, and the lives of others, by solving problems in their communities. Perhaps they could design a device that could make it easier to put on socks? Maybe they could design something to make it easier for older people to make it all the way across the street in one light! Who knows what their unique perspectives could identify as needs in their community!?
