The vision of this program is to transform the classroom to become conducive to the teaching and learning of 21st-century skills; these are skills necessary for learners to be successful in their future careers and personal lives. These skills can be categorized into three groups; learning skills, literacy skills, and life skills. Learning skills encompasses critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborating, and communicating. Literacy skills include information literacy, media literacy, and technology literacy. Life skills include flexibility, initiative, social skills, productivity, and leadership. The acquisition of these skills happens both in part by the deliberate concentration on these skills in the classroom and also by the way the students are positioned in the classroom for learning. To successfully place students for learning these skills the teacher must set up the class so that the focus in on the students and the students have direct access to the tools they need to develop these skills. The teacher then can design projects where the students are forced to learn effective ways of working with others, using technology, and accessing information.
