My Students

My days are blessed with the smiling faces of great, motivated kindergartners having their first school experience. Our schools is predominately low-income (100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast) but it doesn't stop my nuggets (our class name for my students) from coming in everyday will the ability to be the best learner they can be!

My nuggets are constantly showing their eagerness to learn and dream big!

Our classroom consists of many different backgrounds, ethnicity, and learning abilities. We learn, first and foremost, how to work together. During this time, we work in groups of 3 or 4 and engage in differentiated learning activities that require both peer-to-peer interaction and self-motivation. My students are engaged through many hands-on activities and through technology. Our school is located in an inner-city, urban neighborhood.

My Project

This project will help my students explore Computer Science through the Artie 3000. This robot will be used to help students explore coding and, in the end, make shapes. In my class, I am preparing my students to be 21st Century learners.

The Artie 3000 will help my children see shapes come alive right in front of them.

My students would use these in a teacher-directed center. During this time, they will work in pairs to program the Artie 3000 to create the shapes we have been learning about. This project will also help the students to work collaboratively.
