Coding to Learn in Kindergarten!

My students need Bee Bot programmable robots to enhance their learning across the curriculum. Coding will provide exciting opportunities for my students to problem solve, design projects, and develop social skills!

My Students

Do you believe that every child wants to be in a classroom where they are loved, respected and are able to explore? My goal is for my kindergarten students to be able to have additional exciting learning opportunities provided to them. I want them to know that they are capable of great things. Our school system is focused on encouraging creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. Coding activities are an excellent way to introduce kindergarten students to technology programming skills.

My students are always excited to learn and I want to expose them to the latest technology tools.

They enjoy learning through high interest activities and engaging lessons. They are motivated to participate and work harder when instruction is fun! I can’t think of a more exciting way to enhance instruction than using a robot to learn. Coding puts all students on a level playing field because it is new to everyone. They will be able to learn alongside each other growing both socially and academically. I hope to promote and build a love of learning that reaches beyond their year in kindergarten.

My Project

Coding is an exciting new way to engage students in literacy, math and science instruction. Implementing coding in the regular classroom will encourage students to use critical thinking skills. Students will learn how to plan ahead and think through a series of steps. Coding can be used to teach everything. Bee Bot robots can even help students to learn sounds and sight words. Through coding my students will have opportunities to engage in conversations and ask questions to solve problems. Our school values social and emotional learning, but we need fun ways to teach these skills. Coding is the perfect opportunity for students to work in cooperative groups. So, students will be learning not only academics but also how to work together as a team.

Students will be combining social skills with technology to make learning fun.

These Bee Bots are robotic and engineering tools that are appropriate for kindergarten students. They will be used to teach number sense, letter recognition, story retelling and problem solving. These robots are a must in today’s 21st century classroom. Students will look forward to being able to use these coding robots throughout their day. My instruction and the use of coding activities may even encourage students to work in the technology field in the future. Your donation will go to work every day in our classroom.
