Our school is a place where all kids can go and feel welcome. It is a wonderful learning environment where all staff strives to educate, inspire, and create as many opportunities for our students as we can. I am excited to bring coding into one of the choices that Lincoln students have to expand their knowledge and grow their career interests.
Our students have a desire to learn and need the opportunities to be able to grow as learners.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and economic situations. 56% of our students are eligible for free and reduced lunch.
My Project
These materials will be going to an after school club. The students coming will have a desire to learn code and I am excited to help them grow their knowledge about it. Students will begin by connecting coding to their everyday lives, exploring online coding sites such as scratch and code.org. These robots would provide them with a hands-on experience.
By being able to use these robots students will be able to see their code come to life in front of their eyes.
Every student will have a unique student-led experience. They will be in charge of how much they want to learn. This opportunity will create ownership of their learning, and build on to their desires to want to learn more. Coding Club will not only will offer an experience for these kids to do something fun, but it will offer them insight into a growing career field they may be interested. Coding helps create a growth mindset, but new way to their brains upm to be problem solvers.
