Coding the Future—One Brick at a Time

Help me give my students the tools to build the future using the LEGO Education Computer Science & AI Kit 6-8.

My Project

My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn through hands-on experiences at our public Montessori school.

Our school serves a diverse student population, including many families who benefit from Title I support.

Students come into class with a wide range of experience—some have explored coding before, while others are discovering computer science for the very first time. What they share is excitement and a desire to create, problem-solve, and understand the technology shaping their world.

These students are growing up in the age of artificial intelligence. They deserve opportunities not only to use technology, but to understand how it works and how they can help shape it responsibly.

I am requesting LEGO Education Computer Science and AI kits for our 7th and 8th grade coding elective. These hands-on kits will allow students to explore coding, robotics, engineering design, and introductory artificial intelligence concepts through meaningful, project-based learning experiences.

Rather than simply learning about coding from a textbook or screen, students will design, build, test, and improve real working models while learning computational thinking and problem-solving skills. They will learn that coding is not just typing commands—it is problem-solving, creativity, communication, and resilience.

Students will use the kits to:

• Learn coding fundamentals

• Explore robotics and engineering design

• Investigate real-world AI concepts

• Practice teamwork and collaboration

• Build persistence through trial and improvement

• Develop creativity and innovation skills

The LEGO Education platform makes advanced technology concepts approachable and engaging, allowing students at many experience levels to participate and succeed.

Middle school is a pivotal age for discovering passions and building confidence. A student who begins the year unsure about coding may leave believing, “I can build this. I can solve problems. I can create something that matters.”
