My students are part of a fantastic school. They come from various cultural backgrounds and languages, creating a truly unique and diverse classroom. Many of them lack access to technology in the home which motivates us to provide these tools for our students even more. They are funny, dedicated, brilliant, kind, inquiring minds who rise to any academic challenge presented to them.
Our school is a family of teachers, supporting staff, and learners that truly care about one another and work together to deliver the best for each and every one of our students.
These students are members of a Title I urban school in Richmond, CA, a school where all students qualify for the free breakfast and free lunch program.
My bilingual class will be busy this year with our new rigorous curriculum. I would like to provide another college and career readiness activity that is coding skills.
The four Chromebooks will be used by students to learn and apply coding skills like problem solving, critical and design thinking, and data analysis by using Kodable and Scratch.
This station will serve my 26 students on a daily basis.
The goal is to have my students design and develop their first interactive game using Scratch. The use of these devices will grant my students the ability to keep up with the expanding divide in digital literacy.
