My Project

My school serves a high-poverty community, where 35% of our students are recent immigrants, including refugees from Burma, Nigeria, and Honduras. Many face significant challenges, including limited access to basic school supplies and a lack of exposure to diverse perspectives. Despite these obstacles, they are remarkably kind, caring, and possess an innate eagerness to learn. They thrive in project-based learning environments, demonstrating a natural curiosity that transcends traditional textbook instruction. What truly sets my students apart is their enthusiasm and resilience; they are ready to embrace new knowledge and simply need the right support to achieve their full potential.

My students are passionate about computer programming and coding.

However, our limited resources pose a significant hurdle. We lack sufficient tablets for individual use, forcing students to share and hindering their learning progress. This shared access leads to frustration as they wait to test their code, disrupting their workflow and diminishing valuable learning time.

Providing additional tablets would directly address this challenge. Each student would gain the autonomy to test and refine their code independently, optimizing their learning efficiency. This increased access would not only improve their coding skills but also foster a more engaging and productive learning environment, allowing them to fully realize their potential in the world of technology.
