My Students

My school is in a high poverty area. Thirty-five percent of my students come from countries other than the United States. Many of these students are refugees from the countries of Burma, Nigeria, and Honduras. Many of my students are unable to afford necessary school supplies, and many of them have unfounded fears and concerns about people who are different from them. They are kind and caring students who have not had the opportunity to see what kind of beauty there is in learning from people who have had different experiences than they have. These students are eager to learn and love doing projects without the use of a textbook. What is so special about my students is that they are eager and excited to learn new things; they just need a little help being successful!

My Project

My students are in a class about computer programming and coding. We do not have enough tablets for each student to have their own, making it very difficult for students to work efficiently.

My students LOVE coding and computer programming!

However they get frustrated when they have to wait to check their code because their partner is using it for their code.

With two more tablets, students will have the opportunity to check their own code without having to wait, or go through the process of restarting the device to check their program. This is VERY beneficial in making sure students are using their time to the best of their ability!
