My Students

We are a school in the middle of Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis. Our students are a unique, diverse, collaborative, and multi-talented set of thinkers. Our students have a knack for challenge-based learning, hands-on projects, coding, and programming. In addition, we recently became a STEM certified school, one of only 60 in the state!

Providing unique opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education is vital for 21st-century learning.

Coding, making, and augmenting are pillars of our learning environment. Our students are resilient and persistent about learning.

My Project

Robotics, coding, and CS are becoming an increasingly important tract for future career prospects of today’s students. Yet in many instances, STEM teachers often face barriers in the cost of equipment and the perceived difficulty of the subject matter.

By providing flexible, intuitive, and affordable Hummingbird robotics kits that are easy to use, we can introduce students to programming and robotics that cultivates their ability to think and work creatively with 21st-century tools.

This is a tool for true interdisciplinary learning.

By working with Hummingbird robotics kits, our students will have the opportunity to create and promote technological fluency in STEM. The kits will provide a valuable tool to motivate computer science students by giving them a tangible representation of their coding. The Hummingbird Robotics Kit is a tool for true interdisciplinary learning. The kit will be used to integrate robotics and computer science into subjects from reading, art, and math.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
