My Students

The students at my school are special because like children everywhere they love to learn by having fun. Our students are enthusiastic and engaged when they have a chance to do something together as a team.

They value teamwork and sharing through collaboration.

Collaboration is an important component and life skill all students are taught and encouraged to practice at our elementary school.

Technology is an important way to engage young learners. Our school is fortunate to have 1:1 technology in the classroom. All of our students have access to Ipads which we use in a variety of ways; research, independent work, differentiation within the curriculum and educational games.

My Project

Ivo Ozobots will allow our students to learn to code at their own level with varying degrees of ability. I envision them wanting to use the Ivo often as the students master the skills of coding. Last year we had 1 technology lesson with the Ollie Sphero. My students loved that lesson with our computer teacher. The Ivo is much better!

The power of coding can be learned from each child's success' and failures as they try to code the Ivo.

In addition the Ivo's can be used individually or as a team learning with differentiation.

Ivo's can be coded by simply drawing straight lines with markers which all children will find exciting. But to step coding up a notch the Ivo can be coded using their Ipads too. This lets our students explore coding at their own pace.
