My Students

"Why every child should learn to code" "Will every job involve programming? No. But it is crucial we equip future generations to think about the world in a new way" - Dan Crow (The Guardian) Thinking about this, I will be teaching each of my students how to code this school year.

When it comes to technology, our students are sponges, they soak up everything you can provide and just want to learn more and more.

Our school is a Title I school and primarily serves children from the Amsterdam Houses, a public-housing community on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

My Project

Offering our students a coding class will not only help them in the long term, it will also be a very engaging experience for them outside their normal day to day. Our school just launched a brand new multimedia center, our Dream.Think.Do Lab. However, when the plans for the lab were being created years ago, there were no affordable interactive projectors to fit into its budget. So our lab was built with standard projectors, if we receive this projector we will swap out one standard projector to make the learning lessons in the lab even more engaging for our students.

When teaching coding classes, teamwork and collaboration is a must.

Students will take turns using the interactive projector to practice, demonstrate and debug the coding process in front of their peers.
