My Students
As a technology teacher in an urban low-income/high-poverty community, I know that my students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. I teach a very diverse population where providing equity to curriculum and material is very important. My students come from a variety of social and economic backgrounds. Many students don't have access to resources that are needed to prepare them for a 21st century world that is dominated by technology.
I would love to be able to give my students the opportunity to experience technology in ways that can help them advance academically.
My Project
Coding is emerging in the world and in demand in our classrooms. Part of teaching our students to code is to also make sure they have a clear understanding of the role coding has in our lives.
If we are to get students interested in coding and programming, we must let them experience what it is all about.
Teaching kids to code and make something happen on the computer is great. To have a student code and make something tangible function is transforming the teaching to a higher level.
Using the robots in the classroom by having the students interact with what is coded, and what they have coded will provide hands-on learning and learning with understanding. The robots will help bridge the gap from idea to reality.
