Coding For Our Future Dreams

Help me give my students 4 Osmo detective games, a coding game and a coding jam game for our STEAM hour.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a Title I, Northern California elementary school where about 50% of our student population qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. I have several second language learners, two identified special needs children, some students who had gone to TK or Preschool, and some who are starting their first year in formal education.

My students are learning how to have a growth mindset as they begin to read, explore numbers, and problem solve in both math and science in small collaborative, differentiated groupings with an emphasis on personalized learning as part of our daily workshops.

My Project

We are asking for an additional OSMO coding jam game and Osmo coding awbie game. We are also asking for 4 new Osmo detective games. My students love our STEAM hour and Osmo is their favorite choice. Our problem is our class size as grown and I don't have enough coding games to meet our class needs. I was able to try out the detective game and I know my students are going to LOVE it! We have been reading about different parts of the world during social studies and as we learn about holidays around the world this time of year plus my students love a good mystery!

My students love coding since we started learning how to code especially during our Hour of Code this last week when they taught their fourth grade buddies how to code!

I had a very proud group of Kindergarten teachers that explained each step to their buddies and took turns adding coding steps for Awbie.

Thank you for reading our proposal. We want to be proficient coding experts. I know the skills we will learn with these games and the exposure to new countries and their culture, famous landmarks and more will engage my students and spur on their adventurous spirit!
