Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best 5 and 6 year olds you could ever meet! They are future computer scientists, doctors, teachers, scientists, mathematicians, police officers and even future race car drivers! They are learning to understand the importance of getting college and career ready and they work really hard every day.

I work in a Title 1 school in a working class neighborhood.

My students are mostly ELLS and are just starting to learn English, but that doesn't stop their tenacity in learning!!

My Project

Dash, Dot and Botley will be a great way to teach coding to my students. Did you know that coding is a real world way to teach mathematical thinking? Students who code learn visualization and problem-solving, which they need to learn to be successful in math. Now who wouldn’t want a coding mathmatician in their class? I can already see how excited they will be when they open this box in the classroom! I believe coding with robots in the classroom are a good way to help students reach their mathematical potential. Wouldn’t you want to be part if that?
