I teach at an urban, Title I school where over 90% of students come from low-income households. Federal funding provides free breakfast, lunch, and snack for every student. My students may be faced with many challenges, however, it is my job as their teacher to ensure they receive the best possible education despite those obstacles.
My students are eager to learn, full of potential, and ready to take on the world!
They come to school ready to learn, with the want and desire to be successful.
I want to provide my students with every possible opportunity to succeed. I am always looking for new, innovative ways to empower my students!
I would absolutely love to attend "Coding as a Playground" at the Pathfinders Winter Institute in Providence, Rhode Island! This professional development targets teachers working with young children K-2 who are interested in integrating computer science (CS), computational thinking (CT), and robotics into their classrooms.
My students deserve every learning opportunity I can give them, and I want to ensure I have all the resources I can to help them succeed.
This PD experience will provide me with new learning activities and engaging experiences to bring back to our classroom so that my students remain excited about learning.
I am confident that the knowledge I will gain from this professional development will help me to become an even more effective teacher. The knowledge I will attain will also benefit my colleagues, as I plan to share what I have learned with them.
I am always eager to further my education and continue to learn while refreshing my outlook on teaching. Thank you in advance for this opportunity!
