Coding and Pattern Play in the Maker Space

Help me give my students an exciting coding and pattern play space in our library’s brand new maker space.

My Project

The library is used daily. Every student in our school knows that our library is learning hub and it is essential to the success of our school. They also know that they don't come to the library just to listen to stories and check out books. It is a place where they can tap into their curiosity, relax, be their authentic selves, learn new skills and crafts, and much more!

Coding and pattern skills are two areas where students can explore their creativity easily.

These kits and games will support that curiosity and creativity. It will also challenge them to think outside the box. The Code-a-pillar and Coding Critters are coding toys that are targeted towards our younger students. It makes coding approachable for our prekindergarten and kindergarten students. Several of the pattern games will be used to incorporate pattern recognition with our older students. Qbitz in particular is a three dimensional pattern game that will encourage our 3rd through 5th grade students to look at pattern on a different plane.
