Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am having a blast teaching math, science, coding, and AVID my incredible sixth graders this year! These are my favorite subjects, and I just love this age group. My students are enthusiastic about learning new things and are full of energy!
Our school has a spectacular staff and incredible community support.
Even though we are located in a low socioeconomic area, it is clear that parents want the best for their children by their active involvement.
My students face many daily challenges, as many come from foster homes or might be experiencing homelessness. However, they always come to school with dazzling smiles, ready to have fun learning!
My Project
I am really enjoying my classes this year! My 6th grade coding class is remarkable and their ideas inspire me daily! They absolutely love technology and learning about how it works!
My kiddos would love to have these incredible board coding board games, created by an 8 year old girl in 2016!
This game is a wonderful way for my students to practice key coding concepts, such as sequencing, loops, and debugging! These games will be amazing to have as we currently do not have enough working chromebooks for each student. This way, all 33 of my kiddos can practice important coding skills everyday.
Additionally, I am requesting Code.org shirts for my students to wear during computer science week in December. This will enhance our class by building camaraderie. It will also spark conversations with other students, spreading the word about coding!
