This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My special needs students are diverse, determined, and driven. My students are from Chicago and come from hard-working and loving parents. Our school is very family-oriented and have great family involvement. My students will be able to learn if their basic needs are met.

My students may come from a single parent in the home, or not knowing where their next basic essentials are coming from, but they are eager to learn.

Many of my students lack the essentials, such as warm coats for the upcoming winter.

My Project

The winters in Chicago can be cold and blustery. As a teacher, I have seen some of my most neediest students in need of a warm winter coat. Some of my students come from homes where parents struggle to provide the basic needs. When I ask some of my students why they don’t wear warm clothing, they will say that their caregiver cannot afford extra clothing. At times, other students will explain that their family is only able to obtain the necessary items such as paying the rent, bills, and buying food. Your generous donation will mean that a child will have a warm coat this winter season.

These coats would be for two sisters that are in great need.

They will be able to maintain warm as they walk to school everyday in the cold and frigid winter.
