Our school is home to a tremendously diverse student population where many nationalities and cultures are represented. For many of my third graders, English is not their first language. As a result, we face many challenges in and out of school. Despite these challenges, I am always looking for ways to make our classroom feel like a home away from home.
These students show up to school every day ready to be phenomenal learners and show how they ROAR!
It is my goal to challenge my students academically while providing a safe, fun, and comforting environment for our classroom family.
In this project, I am requesting chair pockets that slip onto the back of chairs and provide storage space for books, pencils, and classroom supplies. Instead of traditional desks, our classroom is outfitted with tables that provide great opportunities for collaboration and group work. However, these tables do not have storage for each student to store their items needed throughout the day. We currently use plastic bins to organize our materials, but retrieving the items causes great interruptions to our limited, valuable teaching time. These items will benefit my classroom immensely by both minimizing transition time and increasing our organization systems in place.
