Help me give my students a diverse, wide-range opportunity to engage with books, puzzles and board games. These items will strengthen and build their vocabulary banks, provide opportunities for collaboration and communication.
My learners and our school are nestled in the bustling, fast paced downtown Brooklyn, New York community. Our school community is one that is warm, welcoming and is rooted in a pedagogy of learning, and learning experiences should always be student centered and full of ongoing hands-on opportunities. My learners are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn new concepts and ideas and also these learners are eager to extend and stretch their vocabulary banks. Most of my learners hail from diverse backgrounds hence fortifying their learning experiences with books, puzzles, and board games and manipulatives will allow my learners to make deep and personal connections with content as they progress in the educational journey this school year.
My Project
These materials are vital to my students in helping them build strong literacy foundations. Also these books are culturally relevant and responsive and are truly reflective of the lives my learners live in their communities. These books are gateway tools to my students building and enhancing reading comprehension skills and writing. I see these books and games as tools that will foster ongoing communication amongst peers and myself. These books and games will help students to adopt good reader skills and support their unique writing styles.
