My Project

Summer learning loss, also known as the summer slide, is the loss of academic skills/knowledge over summer break. Most of my students come from low-income, urban homes and are already 1-2 years behind, socially and academically. These 2nd graders were also severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which means they are even further behind than the average urban student. In years past, we sent Chromebooks home with students to use over the summer, but we found that most students were not using them for academic purposes. That being said, I would like to provide my students with workbooks to work on throughout the summer to hopefully reduce summer learning loss.
