This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Education is the first step to overcoming poverty. Having school supplies is so important. Children have to be equipped with what they need to have a better learning experience. Being prepared keeps children motivated and excited.

Studies show that children having school supplies can improve grades, creativity, attitudes toward learning, behavior, peer relationships, and self-image.

My classroom is focused on student achievement, student growth, and student success to prepare them for college and beyond. We need supplies like 2 Pocket Plastic Folders to allow students to organize their work by subject. This saves valuable class time when they find what they are looking for quickly. Composition Notebooks keep their writing drafts organized so they can see their progress draft by draft. Students always need filler paper and pencils. Dry erase markers provide students with the opportunity to answer questions and get immediate feedback.

School supplies are the essential tools that allow for hands-on learning. Instead of just listening to the teacher, proper supplies allow students to be active participants in the educational process. To close the achievement gap, students must have access to these tools.
