I allow a little play time before diving in to the lesson and they love it! The other supplies have already been put to good use as well. I had 1 go under her desk with her magazine, then others followed suit and crawled under their dresks with their magazines. They were excited by the topics they can relate to. It makes my teacher heart so happy seeing my 1st graders appreciate and engaging with reading material.
