The motivation and eagerness to get to learning is off to a good start, thanks to your generosity. The lcd tablets were the hit. We use them for phonics in the morning. I allow a little play time before diving in to the lesson and they love it! The other supplies have already been put to good use as well. I had 1 go under her desk with her magazine, then others followed suit and crawled under their dresks with their magazines. They were excited by the topics they can relate to. Snap Cubes were these cool, colorful blocks that snapped together. We used them to learn math and science in a fun way. I was excited because I loved using things I could touch to help me learn.\r\n\r\nIn math, we used Snap Cubes to help us understand fractions better. For example, when we had 12 cubes and wanted to show ¼, we made a tower of 12 cubes and then split it into 4 equal parts. Each part had 3 cubes, so we saw that ¼ of 12 was 3. This made it easier to understand fractions than just looking at numbers on paper.\r\n\r\nFor science, our teacher showed us how to use Snap Cubes to show different states of matter. We made a tight cube to show a solid, spread out the cubes a little to show a liquid, and spread them out a lot to show a gas. This helped me remember how particles behaved in different states.\r\n\r\nI think Snap Cubes helped our whole class learn better. Sometimes it was hard for me to understand things just by reading or listening. When I could touch and move things around, it helped me remember better. Also, it was fun to work with my classmates using these cubes. We could talk about what we were doing and help each other understand.\r\n\r\nIn our class, we had some students who were still learning English. I think Snap Cubes were really good for them too. Even if they didn't know all the words yet, they could see and touch the cubes to understand what we were learning about.\r\n\r\nExample Activity: Building 3D Shapes\r\n\r\nOne cool activity we did with Snap Cubes was building 3D shapes. Our teacher asked us to make a cube that was 3 cubes long, 3 cubes wide, and 3 cubes tall. Then we counted how many cubes we used total. This helped us learn about volume! We also tried making other shapes like rectangular prisms and saw how the number of cubes changed. It was like doing math and building at the same time!\r\n\r\nThank You for Donating Snap Cubes\r\n\r\nI want to say a big thank you to the people who donated the Snap Cubes to our class. Your gift helped us learn in new and fun ways. It was amazing that you cared about our education and wanted to help us understand math and science better. Because of you, our class had cool tools to use every day. We promised to take good care of the Snap Cubes and use them to learn as much as we could. Thank you for making our classroom a more exciting place to learn!\r\n\r\nWe got the Snap Cubes and they made our math and science classes more fun and helped us all learn better. It was cool that our teacher wanted us to have tools that made learning easier and more enjoyable for everyone in our class.","fullyFundedDate":1738807971572,"projectUrl":"project/snap-up-snap-cubes-hands-on-math-for-un/9018266/","projectTitle":"Snap Up Snap Cubes: Hands-On Math For Underprivileged Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vanderwalker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7868035_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627240899615","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7868035"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35194","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":406,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":85,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"21.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":64.0,"schoolId":35194,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Davidson Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Davidson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-bernardino-city-unified-school-district/davidson-elementary-school/35194"}
