My students are motivated and eager to learn. They enjoy literature and discussing books. They have a wonderful knack for connecting personal experiences with the literature they have read. They enjoy being read to, and after they have heard books read to them, they can read them on their own. They are learning a new language and developing their vocabulary every day. I want them to develop a love of reading that will take them on great adventures!
I teach twenty-six first grade, second language learners, living in a low-income community in Los Angeles.
Our school is a Title I school with students from preschool to fifth grade. We strive to instill the idea in our students that they are "Thinkers, Leaders, and Change Makers!" I believe they all strive to have those qualities as the year progresses.
My students need to be in a healthy environment especially in these Winter months when colds and the flu are a constant threat. The Clorox wipes will help us wipe our tables and keep our classroom germ free. A vacuum cleaner cleaner will help us keep our rug a healthy learning place for the students to sit.
The Ziploc bags will be used to store books that will be taken home.
The students use the classroom headphones daily and they need disposable headphone covers to keep them safe to use. The disinfectant spray will help us keep our class fresh smelling.
