I am privileged to teach 18 amazing fourth graders! Our school has an extremely strong and supportive, yet very diverse community. I believe it is my duty to give all of my students as many educational experiences and opportunities as possible in order to enable them to do their best learning and growing.
My fourth graders are inquisitive, imaginative, and innovative children who have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge!
These students come to school each day with smiles on their faces and stories to share. I work to foster an environment that encourages positive social interactions, and I also strive to engage my students in meaningful activities that evoke critical and creative thinking.
It is my esteemed honor to teach these enthusiastic and passionate learners every day! I want to prepare them for life outside of the classroom in the 21st century by incorporating as much access to technology as possible in our classroom routine and through the use of developing personal strategies that they can use throughout their lives.
My Project
My students are in need of wobble stools so that they can have flexible seating options to engage their minds and evoke critical thinking. Research shows that items like the wobble stools promote healthy bodies and active minds. I have seen first hand that my students sustain more rigorous focus for longer periods of time when they can work while standing, moving, or positioning their bodies in other non-traditional ways. When I asked my students which flexible seating item they liked using the best, the majority of my class agreed that the wobble stools were their favorite and most sought-after choice.
Mike Reading once said, "Don't design your school for the future—design it to be flexible and embrace change".
I believe it is within my power to give my students a flexible seating choice that best meets their educational needs at school, and the wobble stools from this project would support this goal.
Furthermore, computer mice would ensure that all of my students can utilize our school and classroom Chromebooks to the fullest extent. At the moment, I only have seven mice to be shared among my students. I find that many children become frustrated when they only have the use of the Chromebook touchpad because they cannot navigate as effectively as they can with a mouse. The cell phone holder would actually be used to store the computer mice so that students can easily locate and return these tools as needed. The additional mice and storage for these mice will be extremely beneficial for all of the subjects that I teach and for helping my students become more computer savvy!
