Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Aladdin had a magic flying carpet to take him any where his heart desired. The new version of a magic carpet comes in the form of a laptop computer.

My students are energetic, curious, and challenged.

They attend our charter school mostly because traditional teaching methods did not meet their needs. Many of them come from area failing schools. These are students that many people say can not learn but at our charter school, we have proved our belief that all children can learn if equipped with the proper tools.

My Project

I am requesting a laptop computer to help expose my students to the technological world while also providing a resource that will allow students to reinforce skills introduced in lessons in a fun, exciting manner. Using a laptop to help teach and expose my students to information in a "non-traditional" manner will help me to reach those students that need additional avenues in which to learn. Also, many of my students have limited opportunity to utilize technology as a tool of learning so acquiring a laptop will assist in helping to teach basic computer skills such as typing and power point. Skills that they will definitely need when pursuing college degrees.

This project is important because all students should have equal opportunities to excel academically utilizing materials that inspire, excite, and cultivate a desire to learn, while preparing them for the next level.
