Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Each year, I challenge my 6th Grade students to read 40 Books of Different Genres. This is a project I have adapted from Donalyn Milller's book, The Book Whisperer. I currently have so many books, I do not have enough storage for all of them. Since starting the project, I have received many donations from families who are clearing out libraries or who even stop at yard sales or library sales to donate more books for our use.

Using clear bins will help students be able to find books in specific genres more easily.

Labeling the bins will allow students to see the spines of the books in the totes, which could make locating a new book a little easier. It will also free up storage space to give students easy access to the books without adding more bookshelves to our already crowded space.
