My Project

Our SeaPerch room is where scholars design and build underwater robots using PVC frames, tether systems, motors, and electrical components as they prepare for regional and international competition. As the program has grown, so has the amount of equipment we rely on, and many of these materials currently do not have dedicated storage. This project will install pegboard wall storage so PVC, cords, and frequently used tools have an organized and visible home, creating a safer and more efficient workspace. I am also requesting essential build supplies such as solder, PVC cutters, and a small set of drills that scholars use regularly during ROV construction.

When scholars can easily access organized tools and materials, they spend more time engineering and less time searching.

Pegboard storage will allow scholars to independently locate PVC pieces, manage tether systems, and return shared tools responsibly, strengthening both technical skills and workspace habits used in real engineering environments. Supplies like solder, cutters, and drills directly support fabrication, troubleshooting, and iteration during the build process. The goal of this project is to create a workspace that supports confidence, collaboration, and hands-on problem solving throughout the SeaPerch season.

My scholars stand out because they take on complex engineering challenges with persistence and curiosity, often staying after school to refine designs, test buoyancy, and improve performance for competition. Many are exploring engineering and marine technology for the first time through SeaPerch, and they rise quickly to the challenge when given authentic tools and responsibilities. With better organization and reliable build supplies, this space can continue growing into a workshop that matches their motivation and ambition.
