My students need these items to help develop career skills while supporting academic instruction in a school-based employment setting through a in-school laundry service.

My Students

I have a great bunch of kids in my class. I teach LD (learning disabilities) self-contained class, and my students range from 9th-12th grade. My students can be great learners but are also often easily distracted-- as many students are.

Our school is Title I, which means that the majority of the students live at or below the poverty level.

They have little care for what supplies they need or how well to do in school when their basic needs aren't being met at home. Finding ways to take care of those school needs so that they don't have to is a big goal, but one I cannot accomplish alone.

My Project

Our school is filled with sports teams, from basketball to football to baseball and more. In our project, we're asking for Arm & Hammer detergent, OxiClean stain remover, Bounce dryer sheets, drying racks, a storage cabinet to hold our items, and a rolling cart to collect uniforms and move laundry goods from classroom to laundry room. Our hope is that students will develop career skills while supporting academic instruction in a school-based employment setting

We would like to help students to increase career readiness skills, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and create personal work-based goals through the development of an in-school laundry service for our sports teams.

Students will develop self-advocacy skills, social skills, and teamwork skills, as well as gain an understanding of the skills and dedication needed to create their own business.
