When the supplies arrived, my students were eager to get started. For many of my English language learners, having quality materials to draw, label, and design with has made lessons more engaging and accessible. One student used the sketch pad to illustrate transportation words we were learning, and another created a diagram with a ruler to organize new vocabulary. These moments showed me how the right tools can open up opportunities for participation.\r\n\r\nWe are using the supplies in ongoing projects such as illustrated vocabulary journals and posters that connect words to images. The sketch pads, in particular, have helped students practice writing alongside their drawings in a way that feels less intimidating. Next, we plan to begin a collaborative project where students will combine drawings and English phrases into a class mural that reflects both their learning and their cultural identities.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a direct impact by giving my students the chance to practice language through hands-on, creative work. Independent reading impacts a student's test scores and achievement in school in every area, but often reading for fun is squeezed out by other competing needs. For students who love to read, I wanted to give them a community to talk about the books they enjoy, but unlike other students these students can't pull up their parent's Amazon accounts and purchase what they want to read. They have access to few books, so the school library becomes their main source of books. \r\n\r\nAs the young man who is pictured pointed out to me, the school's library has a much better selection of manga than the neighborhood public library. Your donation feeds his interest in reading for fun and helps the library to provide a community-building experience for the students around reading and books. They are already asking if we have bought the rest of the series. I assured them that I have ordered the next books in the series, volumes 5 and 6. I can't wait to build on their interest to create a larger reading culture throughout this Title 1 school.","fullyFundedDate":1743722457690,"projectUrl":"project/inaugural-warrior-manga-book-club/9208301/","projectTitle":"Inaugural Warrior Manga Book Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Russell-Albach","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp396117_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1484586667386","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cyndi-russellalbach"},{"teacherId":10004207,"projectId":9266686,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation of headsets, our newcomer students have been able to practice their English in ways we couldn't do before. Using the Speakable website, they get instant feedback on how they're speaking, which really helps them improve their pronunciation and gain confidence. Since many of our students are just beginning to learn English, this kind of practice is incredibly important. The headsets help block out distractions and let each student focus and learn at their own pace—which makes a huge difference.\r\n\r\nThe part that gets our students most excited is how the computer actually \"talks back\" to them. They love seeing the green check mark pop up when they say something correctly! One student, who was super quiet and nervous to speak in class, now jumps right into Speakable every day. With the headset on, they feel more comfortable and ready to try. It's been amazing to see their progress—and it's all thanks to your support.","fullyFundedDate":1746785829033,"projectUrl":"project/voices-in-the-making-headsets-for-engli/9266686/","projectTitle":"Voices in the Making: Headsets for English Language Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dehmey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10004207_orig.jpg?crop=650,650,x0,y91&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745413548207","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10004207"},{"teacherId":9872462,"projectId":9003629,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project!
