I am an Algebra 2 and Geometry teacher. My Algebra 2 class learns about how functions make our world work, and to show this, we use graphing calculators to represent real-world situations. We collect real-world data, develop functions, and then graph them to make predictions, and develop hypotheses for future experiments. We also explore the behaviors of polynomials. We use TI-Nspire calculators daily. The high usage leads to expensive upkeep. We need to replace four TI-Inspires in order to have a complete class set, so that all students can increase understanding of the mathematics. These calculators are essential to their learning.
