Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an English Language teacher, I have the privilege of working with multilingual learners who come to school every day eager to strengthen their English language skills and master grade-level content. Creating welcoming, comfortable, and engaging learning environment is essential to helping my students feel valued and ready to succeed. Through DonorsChoose, I am seeking support to provide resources that will enhance my students’ classroom experience and promote both academic and social-emotional growth.

To support their learning, I am requesting Kleenex tissues, Clorox wipes, floor cushions, a box of reward items, a high-quality picture book, and a welcome banner.

Kleenex tissues and Clorox wipes will help maintain a healthy classroom environment where students can focus on learning. Having these supplies readily available will allow us to promote good hygiene practices and keep our classroom clean and safe throughout the school year.

The colorful floor cushions will transform our reading area into a cozy and inviting space where students can comfortably participate in small-group instruction, independent reading, partner discussions, and language-development activities. Flexible seating options help many of my students stay engaged and excited about learning.

Positive reinforcement is an important part of building student confidence and motivation. Small rewards will help celebrate academic growth, encourage perseverance, and recognize student effort and achievements. The picture book will serve as a valuable language-development tool by providing rich vocabulary, visual supports, and meaningful opportunities to strengthen reading comprehension, speaking, listening, and critical-thinking skills.

Finally, a colorful welcome banner will create an inviting space where students feel a sense of belonging as they enter the classroom. Your support will directly impact my students by providing resources that foster learning, engagement, comfort, and a positive classroom community.
