This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are energetic, curious, and brilliant. They come from a low-income, under-resourced, neglected school community. Despite this, they attend school each day ready to learn. They deserve the best.
Our kids are future mayors, doctors, scientists, teachers, writers, actors, and lawmakers!
This year our students will be focusing on creativity, leadership, and transferable skills that they will use for the rest of their lives
.
By the end of this year, our students will learn to work together and become productive contributors to the development of their own community. They will take responsibility for their learning and growth and we will do my best to support them in whatever way they need.
My Project
Our students need a functioning washer and dryer in order to ensure that they have clean clothes for school.
One of the most common reasons a student misses school is because they don't have a clean uniform to wear.
Clean clothes bring students a sense of confidence and security that allow them to show up to school and fully engage.
The household cost of laundry can be expensive and at Carver, we want to ease that burden for as many families as possible. That is why we would like to purchase a washer and dryer for school-wide use. The machines will be kept in the main office and students and families will be able to discretely drop off laundry to be cleaned.
Our students deserve to feel confident in school and to arrive to the classroom care-free and ready to learn. That starts with a clean outfit to wear. Please consider a donation to make that happen!
