Clean Carpet for Learning!

My Students

Many of my students enter Kindergarten without any previous school experience, so we start at the very beginning. I have many who have never even held a pencil. At the beginning of the year, we take a lot of time learning how to sit, how to raise a hand, how to be polite and kind, etc. You would be amazed at how fast they catch on! All of my students are hard-working and are always excited to learn new things.

In my classroom, we have to say "I CAN".

"Mistakes are proof that you are trying" -author unknown. No matter how hard something is, I insist that they try. All of my students work hard on a daily basis.

My Project

Every day we begin on the carpet for our morning songs and calendar. Throughout the day, we spend more time on the carpet than at our desks. The carpet we currently have is super old and is so dirty. The students don't complain, but I know they notice all the stains. Year after year I try to clean it to make it presentable, but cleaning only does so much.

My students deserve a clean place to sit while on the floor.

A clean carpet will increase the learning going on because no one will be pointing out and talking about all of the stains. Also, having colored shapes on the carpet will help the students know and remember where their spots are. This will increase learning time because we won't have to stop to look a where everyone is supposed to be.
