Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the school nurse for about six hundred students in an urban school that is in a Title I district. Our students are full of life and compassion at an elementary school.
Our campus services classes for students from Pre-K to fifth-grade level.
In our diverse student body, I see on average of forty-five to fifty children a day for various reasons in the clinic. We are currently in need of items for the students to put their lost teeth in and to take home with them if they are vomiting.
My Project
I created this project with the Covid-19 virus in mind. There are many things that you think about when you are at home and cannot see your students on a daily basis.
This project has various items that will be used in the clinic daily.
This project includes items to help keep the clinic restroom smelling clean with Airwick sprays. It also includes plastic covers for the clinic pillows to help keep them sanitary and prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. A hand washing poster is to remind students to wash their hands properly.
I added tooth saver necklaces for students to send their tooth home. I added emesis bags for students to send home when they are actively vomiting when they are leaving campus.
I want to put together an emergency "go bag" to take with me when I go care for a child or staff member that is unable to come to the clinic or if I have to leave my campus to care for a child on another campus when their nurse is out sick.
Dressing supplies and bandages are always needed in a clinic. Vaseline samples are for the chapped lips.
