Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a high poverty area and many of them are in shelters or other temporary housing situations. They do not always have the best home environment and during this trying time, they are dealing with even more trauma. My students are eager to learn and they love to learn. They are hands-on learners and need to feel and explore materials to fully grasp the concept or skill being taught. This is especially difficult for them during this trying time of remote learning. Yes, they sometimes have the technology to log on, but they need materials at home to help them practice the skills and concepts being taught. These six-year-old students cannot be expected to do everything online. They need and deserve hands-on school supplies.
My Project
These materials will help me and my students to maintain a healthy environment as we move forward with blended learning. In these days of social distancing it is more important than ever that we can ensure that we are keeping our children safe and healthy.
